I was delighted when
Granada bought the television rights to Trust. It was
adapted by Matthew Hall and called Loving You. It was
shown on ITV 1 in February 2003, and starred Niamh
Cusack and Douglas Henshall. The cast also included
Keith Allen, Marianne-Jean Baptiste, Paterson
Joseph, Marian McCloughlin and Mark Bonnar.
During filming I spent a day on set. It was fascinating
to see how my story had grown from a tiny seed of an idea
into this project involving so many people - and it was
quite a thrill to walk round the set and see the rooms
of Chloe's house exactly as I'd imagined them.
Here are some extracts from previews and reviews:
“Loving You is the latest in a recent run of
feature length dramas on ITV1, and possibly the best
yet….This is a gripping drama with a superb
cast, and keeps you wondering till the end.”
Observer
“Just sometimes, along comes a low-key drama
that is so impressive you wonder why more of them aren’t
made. This most certainly falls into that category.
An intelligent, believable story, this shows just how
quickly suspicion can turn happiness into horror.”
TV
Times
“ Loving You takes an age-old story – the
risk inherent in taking a complete stranger into your
home – and refashions it as a cracking contemporary
thriller.”
